Marvel Avengers Alliance: Command Point - CP Farming Technique For Beginner

CP Farming Technique
There are quite a few detailed guides to Command point farming around, including the In Depth Guide in this forum. So if you are looking for in depth information about CPs: Those are better suited for you. What I didn't stumble upon so far was a quick and short guide, aimed at newcomers that just want to get going without too much reading. If you are one of those: This guide is aimed at you.

To do this I'll start with a very short "guide" and add more detail later, so if your thirst for knowledge is satisfied you can just stop reading.

TL;DR version:
0) Never 5-star a mission you are farming.
1) Get Storm + 1 Scrapper
2) Farm 1.4.4
3) Get 30 heroes incl. Kitty Pryde
4) Farm 1.12.2

Basically that is it, as soon as you hit 12.2 you got to the by far most energy efficient CP farming spot in this game. To add a little more information to each point:

0) Never 5-star a mission you are farming.
Why not? Simple: You probably don't only want to farm energy efficient, but also minimize the invested time in repetetive farming. The moment you got your 5th star, the mission is always on your agents level. If you don't do that, you'll sooner or later outlevel the mission and just one-shot everything, reducing the invested time by a huge margin. If you want to do the mission on your level (e.g. to get more XP), you can always just do it in challenge mode, which is slightly harder than your level, but usually this doesn't matter that much.
How do you not 5-star a mission? After the last fight don't hit the "Exit Map" button, instead abort the mission and restart it.
This doesn't matter for premium missions, they are always at least your level.

1) Get Storm + 1 Scrapper
Not much to say here, you'll need those heroes to farm 1.4.4. Storm is also a decent heroes for beginners.
To get the needed CPs (unless you get them anyway by progressing through the first missions) you can either 5-star early missions or just farm 1.1.1/1.1.2.

2) Farm 1.4.4
Season 1, Chapter 4, Mission 4 (You, Foe) is not THE most efficient farming spot outside chapter 12, but very close to it. And in contrary to that one better spot, it doesn't need a ton of expensive heroes. Just keep farming it until you can Chapter 12. And just to be sure: Obviously don't fight the mini bosses on their own, this will just waste energy.
The epic boss is Magneto and he uses a pretty annoying shield, that can drag out the fight. You can ease the pain with DoTs (especially bleeds - Black Cat is a cheap hero with bleeds). If you can get your hands on any Shield Breaker (gear or ability - Havoks L1 e.g.) Magneto becomes pretty pathetic, since he only tries to renew his shield and fails. You can just kill him. However: Currently there is (to my knowledge) no Shield Breaker cheap and readily available, given that Havok costs 200 CPs and might still be the best candidate.
Another way to basically to the same to Magneto and Vapor as well are abilities with Depower. Spiral is a strong and available hero with that debuff .

3) Get 30 heroes incl. Kitty Pryde
Your ultimate target is 12.2 and to unlock chapter 12 you need to recruit 30 heroes. You also need Kitty Pryde for the deploy in 12.2, but since she is one of the cheaper heroes you will probably want to recruit her in any case.
How do you get 30 heroes as fast as possible? Well, obviously any "free" heroes (e.g. from Lockboxes) help a lot and you'll want to recruit the cheapest available heroes. Yes, Luke Cage is pretty useless, but he is cheap and one more hero to have. However, I'd suggest to still get one or two rather strong heroes very early, since they will make everything in this game a lot easier. Personally I got Wolverine and was very happy with him, since he is a pretty versatile hero and not that expensive. Captain America is also pretty strong and having him recruited will help you in farming 12.2, but is not necessary. Last but not least: You can recruit the Invisible Woman very early, since she is very cheap, not that bad early and having her will help you farming 4.4.

Should I recruit any cheap hero the moment I got enough CPs for that hero?
Not necessarily. Do a rough estimate what would be the most expensive hero to get 30 heroes if you would start recruiting. E.g.: When I started the farm towards 12.2 I could easily calculate that I would need some 48 CP heroes even after getting every single cheaper hero. In such a case you can just start with some more expensive heroes (e.g. Quicksilver, who can be pretty helpful) and get the cheaper heroes later. No need to drag Luke Cage along all the way.

4) Farm 1.12.2
Well, once you got those 30 heroes: Congratulations! That's it, you can now farm the by far most energy efficient spot for CPs. I
To give you an impression on how efficient 12.2 really is: On average this will yield about 1 CP per 10 Energy spent. 4.4 yields about half of that, as do the other efficient spots outside Chapter 12.

Further questions
I'll just give some additional information here and expand this if needed, based on questions/feedback in this thread.

I didn't get (m)any CPs in x runs! Those spots suck!
Keep calm and keep farming. Remember: The whole thing is luck based. There can and there will be dry runs. My personal record are six consecutive runs of 12.2 without one single CP dropping. And there are certainly people who top that. But in the long run this will even itself out.

Won't I get more CPs if I just 5-star missions?
Short answer: No. Longer answer: I'd consider that to get Storm fast and reliable - after starting to farm 4.4 it MAY be interesting for early missions. Just consider a couple of things:
- if you need ~200+ energy to 5-star a mission, 4.4 will yield more CPs per energy.
- if you ever want to farm gear from that mission, you'll be thankful not having 5 stars. Unless you want/need to farm that on challenge mode - in that case it doesn't matter.
- if you ever need reliable CPs (e.g. to get that last hero for a timed event like a spec/covert ops thats about to run out), you'll be happy if you can still get those 5 stars in those early missions.

... but I really want to 5-star my farming mission! Why can't I?
If you really want it: Go for it. After all, this is just a guide, those are just suggestions. 5-starring will not affect the energy-efficiency of your CP-farming, unless you are playing missions (that are bad for CP-farming) just to 5-star them. Basically you are giving up the advantage of having some choices: Without 5-starring you can chose to do a quick run or a challenging run - well, more or less challenging anyway. You can also chose between very little or max XP for a run. Not having that last choice can actually result in losing energy, since it can result in an untimely level-up with automatic full energy.

However, if (e.g.) you are level 300 and don't care about the time consumption, by all means, go for it. Even though I don't think you are the target audience of this guide...

In any case: Be aware, that you can never take that back. Once you 5-starred a mission, you are stuck with it. So no whining later!

Should I buy expensive heroes to finish SOs?
That can be a difficult decision. I'd always try to get those SO heroes, since they are usually pretty nice AND having more heroes is always good. However: To finish all tasks without gold skipping you usually need some very expensive heroes, which will cost you many cheaper heroes, who would get you closer to 12.2. In light of that I'd suggest (as a rule of thumb!) to skip the CP expensive task of the SO (usually it is the Epic Boss, skippable with 25 gold) until you get to 12.2. Once you are there: Just farm the CPs while running the SO, you'll use those heroes again some way or another.
Since I got to 12.2 I was always capable of farming all needed heroes for limited time events within the time of those events. Extreme example: During SO16: Apocalypse you needed 358 CPs for the tasks (I "only" needed 335 since I already had Colossus, yay...) and 495 CPs if you wanted all horsemen heroes with one horseman alt each. Farming 12.2 I managed to farm more than those 800 CPs in less than five weeks. While also doing the SO obviously.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Maximizing Command Points (New CP Farming Method)

Hi Agents, we all know that the ways to get Command Points are using gold, the roulettes, or getting 5 stars in a mission. Let's focus on the roulette.
Command Points cp farming method

In this post I will inform which missions are the best to get Command Points  using the roulette, considering how much energy you use and also XP& all other things.

Remember that in each boss roulette we have a chance to earn 1,3 or 5 CP and in an epic boss roulette we have a chance for 3,5 or 10 CP and also the epic drop

Normal Missions:
CH1 M1:
Boss:Viper(Generalist XP:65)
Team up:Hawkeye(Tactician)
Minibosses:None Epic Boss: None
Deploys:None

Other battles: 2 low threats(20 XP each) Pro: This mission is very short and easy, you only need 30 energy to finish it, so for every 60 enegy you have 2 chances at the roulette, plus XP. You can do this mission 4-5 times in the day( Not considering energy gifts).

Con: The problem with this mission is the other rewards of the roulette, the weapons that you can get here are kind of useless even for PVP slot, so if you are unlucky you can end with a bunch of consumables and a poor weapon.

CH1 M2:
Boss: Whiplash(Scrapper  XP:65)
Team up: Iron Man(Blaster)
Minibosses:None
Epic Boss: None
Deploys: Hawkeye(1 battle)
Other battles: 2 low threats, 1 Medium Threat(50 XP)

Pro: You can get to the boss roulette of this mission with 30 energy. First fight the medium threat, then do the deploy, fight a low threat, collect your deploy reward and finally fight with Whiplash. This mission is better than 1.1, the difficulty is basically the same but you can get a consumable with the deploy.

Con: Like 1.1, except for the CP, the rewards in the roulette are poor. With the new roulette system you might get a high PVP bonus item, but I'd rather get 5 CP than 10 of those.

CH7 M3:
Boss:Jack O'lantern(Blaster XP(fighting with miniboss):145 )
 Team up: Black Cat(Infiltrator)
Minibosses:Vector(Blaster  XP:115 )
Epic Boss: Green Goblin(Scrapper  XP:200) Epic Drop: Goblin Glider
Deploys: any hero(1 battle), any hero(1 battle), 1 tactician(3 battles), Spiderman(2 battles), 1 scrapper(1 battle)
Other battles: 4 low threats(55 XP each), 4 high threats(105 XP each)

Pro: You can also get to the boss roulette of this mission with only 30 energy. First fight Vector and then do some of the deploys, do a high threat and collect your deploy rewards, finally fight with the boss for the roulette. The XP here is good and also the weapons are a lot more better than in CH1 M1.

Alternative Path: 1 high threat, 1 deploy, 1 high threat, 2 bird boss. (Of course you can do more deploys)

Con: The problem here is if you want the goblin glider(one of the best epic drops), you'll need spiderman(90 CP) and also a lot more of energy in order to acces to epic boss. If you want to get this drop, it's better if you fight the boss and the miniboss together to save 10 energy.

CH4 M4:
Boss: Vapor(Infiltrator XP(fighting with miniboss): 140)
 Team up: Invisible Woman(Infiltrator)
Minibosses:Fixer(Blaster  XP:100)
Epic Boss: Magneto(Tactician  XP:200)
Epic Drop: Magnetic Field Generator(MFG)
Deploys: 1 scrapper(2 battles), any hero(1 battle), any hero(2 battles), storm(2 battles)
Other battles: 3 medium threats, 2 high threats

Pro: You can finish all this mission(including the epic boss and a 2 bird) with 70 energy, that means a boss roulette and an epic boss roulette. The MFG is of the most useful gadgets in the game, so if you don't have it, is a good idea to try this mission. It's true you will need 70 energy, but that' just 10 more energy of doing twice CH7 M3 or CH1 M1, also the epic boss roulette has better CP rewards(not considering the epic drop)

Con: You need to deploy Storm in order to acces the epic boss, this mission requires a little bit more of energy, if you are unlucky that could be a waste. Magneto is not a difficult epic boss..... but he can be really, really annoying because he's always using shields and particular debuffs. The 2 bird battle with Vapor can be hard, specially if you don't have Invisible woman, she appears at level 6, so be careful.

CH3 M5:
Boss: Green Goblin(Scrapper  XP(fighting with minibosses): 165) Team up:Hawkeye(Tactician)
Minibosses: Vulture(Tactician  XP:85), Sandman(Bruiser  XP:80)
Epic Boss: Dr.Doom(Blaster  XP:190)
Epic Drop: Doombringer
Deploys:Black Widow(1 battle), Spiderman(2 battles), Blaster(1 battle), Tactician(2 battles)
Other battles: 2 low threats, 2 medium threats, 1 high threat

Pro:You can finish all this mission(including the epic boss and doing a three bird) with 80 energy, that means a boss roulette and an epic boss roulette. The Doombringer is a very useful gadget and it's worth of getting.10 more energy than CH4 M4,but if you don't have the doombringer, is a good idea to try this mission.

Con: You have to do the deploys as soon as they are available, otherwise you will use more than 80 energy. Also, if you want to figth the epic boss you will need spiderman. The epic boss is not difficult, just bring 2 tacticians and you should be fine( For more information see the Epic boss thread).

UPDATE: An extra thread was added to this mission so now it costs 80 energy to finish it(including epic boss and 3 bird)

CH3 M4:
Boss: Sabretooth(Scrapper  XP(fighting with minibosses):115) Team up: Kitty Pride(Infiltrator)
Minibosses: Toad(InfiltratorXP: 95)
Epic Boss:None
Deploys:Colossus(2 battles), Infiltrator(1 battle), any hero(1 battle), any hero(1 battle)
Other Battles: 2 low threats, 2 medium threats, 2 high threats

Pro:You can finish this mission with 30 energy by doing 2 deploys and fighting a medium and a high threat. This mission has more deploys than CH1 M2 so you can get more consumables, also the XP is not bad.

Con: In order to be able to finish this mission with 30 energy you need to deploy Colossus(23 CP), also sometimes I had to use 40 energy in this mission because the deploys appeared too late. Suggestion: If you just want to spend 30 energy, make sure you have 2 available deploys when you start this mission(The Colossus deploy always appears) do them inmediately and do the high or medium threats. Just abort the mission until you see 2 available deploys. The battle with Sabretooth can be hard if you don't have Kitty pride, she appears at level 6 even if the mission is with 5 stars.

All CH12 missions except for CH12 M6:

Pro: In CH12 you can finish M1, M3, M4 and M5 with only 10 energy(1 boss roulette). CH12 M2 is extra special, you'll get 2 roulettes, The Boss and Epic Boss roulettes, for only 20 energy, if you want to farm CP very fast DON'T 5 star this mission, if you also want to level up your agent or heroes try challenge mode.

Con: The battles can be quite challenging so be ready to use some consumables because if you lose the battle you are going to need more energy. For CH12 M2 you'll need to deploy Kitty Pride in order to acces the epic boss fight. Finally, to have access to the final Chapter of season 1, you'll need 30 heroes and several mastery stars(I don't remember the number).

Note: In this chapter you'll see almost all the bosses and minibosses from season 1 including SO. That means you are going to fight Satana, Mephisto, Dragoness, etc.

Premium Missions:

You need to have a specific hero in order to do a particular premium mission, however these missions have good rewards, in every Boss roulette you have the chance to receive 2 good weapons, 1,3 and 5 CP.

CH5 M6:

Boss: Militant(Scrapper  XP(fighting with minibosses): 230) Team up: War Machine(Tactician)
Boss Drops: Power of Four, Super Blade Punch
Minibosses: Bowman(InfiltratorXP: 85), Hammer(Blaster  XP: 85)
Epic Boss: None
Deploys: Iron Man(2 battles), Hawkeye(2 battles), Scrapper(1 battle), Blaster(2 battles), any Hero(1 battle)
Other Battles: 3 medium threats, 3 high threats

Pro: You can finish this mission with 40 energy, do the deploys as soon as possible, fight only the high threats(or medium if you can't do a high) and do a 3 bird. The Super Blade Puch is a very good weapon if you are below level 100 and the Power of Four is good for PVP and if you want to level your agent slowly.

Con: You need to recruit War Machine if you want to play this mission, doing 3 bird here can be quite challenging if you don't have good weapons or your heroes are low level, remember that if you lose a fight you'll need more energy.

CH7 M6:
Boss: Vector(Blaster  XP(fighting with minibosses):200)
Boss Drops: Handheld Hohlraum, Cosmic Ray Bomb
Minibosses: Vapor(InfiltratorXP: 75), Ironclad(Bruiser  XP:75)
Deploys: Invisible Woman(3 battles), Thing(2 battles), Scrapper(1 battle), any hero(1 battle), any hero(1 battle)
Other Battles: 3 low threats, 2 medium threats, 3 high threats

Pro: You can finish this mission with 40 energy if you deploy Invisible Woman(the first deploy), fight only high threats(if you can't, do a medium), do another deploy and finally 3 bird the bosses. The Boss drops are useful(especially the CRB)and have a good PVP bonus.

Con: You need to recruit Human Torch to play this mission, also you need Invisible Woman if you want to finish it with 40 energy(in the worst case Thing too). I must warn you, 3 birding the U-foes is one of the most difficult battles in the game, you are going to need some consumables, strong heroes and a good strategy, otherwise you are going to lose the battle.

Suggestions:
You have the option to re-spin the roulette for 5 gold, if you are farming CP NEVER do this. 5 gold = 10 CP which is the max number of CP you can get in a epic boss roulette.

For every mission you 5 star you'll get 5 CP. You can 5 star everything and then start farming CP for the heroes you want.

I suggest to the new players to get the cheapest heroes first(Ms. Marvel, IW, Shulkie, etc) don't let the cost fool you, this heroes are very powerful, besides you need to increase your roster in order to unlock more chapters.

Avoid changing gold for CP, I know is tempting to do it when you want a new hero or a new suit, but if you have patience and keep trying, eventually you'll get all the CP you need without spending any gold. Save your gold for stuff you can't get in a roulette. An useful guide in how to spend your gold wisely is this one.

Special Operations and PVP heroes:
In the special operations we have the chance to recruit a new hero by completing some tasks. However, with the exception of special operations 1, we have always needed to deploy some specific heroes to complete the epic boss task, therefore, it's a good idea to always have some CP. I don't know which heroes are going to be required but there's a very high chance you may need heroes that were recently released.

Playdom has already re-released 2 of the special operations heroes, Mockingbird and Emma Frost, so if you miss one of this special heroes, you may be able to recruit them in the future, but keep in mind that these heroes are re-released for a limited time(usually a few days) and the price is high(200 CP). I want to mention that you can get Mockingbird if you play MAI(Marvel Avengers Initiave), but you will need to defeat taskmaster 3 times and of course link your accounts using Marvel XP.

PVP heroes are the ones you receive for placing in the adamantium league at the end of the season, however, these heroes become available for everyone 1 month after the end of the tournament. So far we have Deadpool and Cable available, both of them at 135 CP, most likely psylocke, punisher and all future PVP heroes will be 135 CP too.

Energy required to run Epic Bosses:

Marvel Avengers Alliance: New Command Point earning method

We noticed as of 19.07.2012 and based on numerous runs, the % of CP appearance via Roulette has increased for 1CP and 3CP than 5CP. Based on assumptions, 50% you get 1CP. 30% it's 3CP. LOL 1% or less 5CP. What were your experiences @ the roulette? More of 1CP right since the adjustment to CP drop via Epic, High Alert Terror and Boss on 16.07.2012?

The runs were based on two accounts - Level 221 and Level 137+ in Chapter 6-5 Magic Hand, Chapter 7-6 A Whole New U, Chapter 5-6 Hydra Assemble! Energies spent definitely more than 1K per account.

Then, how to get more command points easily?

Changes to Crits and CP Drops
Intentational or bugged, as of Tuesday 17.07.2012, Command Drops are no longer guaranteed to drop in all EPIC Bosses fights including High-Terror ones.

If intentional, the move is purely commercial, with some believe Playdom hopes gamers will turn spenders if they wish to stay collectors and competitive within this game.

Marvel Avengers Alliance Command Points Farming Tips:Easily earn CP

This tips is really not a cheat or hack, but its more like a method for you to gain additional command points without other items.I can say this method can help you get the most command points per energy spent. You should use this method for all your CP needs in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.

Background on CP Farming

If you are a regular player ofMarvel: Avengers Alliance, your critical hits have chances of earning  command points. You have the following chance: 1%/3%/6%/20%/25% (low/medium/high threat/mini-boss/boss.) chance for a marvel avengers alliance command point drop. Roulette command point reward on the other hand is at 15%/10%/5% for 1/3/5 CPs (3/5/10 if epic). Because of that, it makes sense to farm command points inside Marvel Avengers Alliance epic boss fights.

Best Epic Boss to Farm

The best Epic boss to farm early in Marvel: Avengers Alliance is in with Chapter 2-3: Elektra (deploy Black Cat). It is the best because you can unlock this epic boss early in Marvel: Avengers Alliance, which means you will be able to use Elektra to farm for all of your CP needs.

You can read best Weapons List for command farming

Command Points Farming

Finally you need to hit and land critical attacks on the marvel epic boss fight as often as possible. Use weapon like Batstone which deals many attacks in one attack. You can also utilize a weapon that hits all the enemy to boost the number of hits possible. For another hero, you can consider using Human Torch or Daredevil which attacks deal multiple attacks on the epic bosses. However, infiltrators should avoid in Marvel: Avengers Alliance Command Points farming when you are fighting with scrapers. Because the enemy scrappers may end up killing you.
