Marvel Avengers Alliance: How to Defeat Spec Op 24 Group Boss Surtur

How do I get the GB to show up?
Go back into the first Spec Op mission. There will be an icon that says "Spawn Group Boss". Do that, then fight him.

Spec Op 24 Group Boss Surtur

Here is some strategy from different players how to defeat group boss Surtur:

Blaster
Strategy 1
This setup took 78% off a Blaster Group Boss.
Empowered Tactician Agent with Snappy Service, Reboot, Asgardian Tankard, Memento Mori and Gaunt Caress.
Fandral with Sympathetic and Reflexive Iso 8 and Hogun with Aggressive and Close E-Iso 8.
I've got generic free boosting A-Isos on Hogun's LVL 1 and 9, and the Rising iso on his lvl 6. Monomoculear blades on Fandrals lvl 1, gracious on 2 and 6, and pulverising on lvl 9. I didn't even use level 9 all through the fight.

Strategy 2
I used Wolverine and Fandral. My agent had the generalist suit which has the party time stamina boost thing (can't remember the suit name) and used quantum jumper, ironstar, chitter chatter box thing (causes flanked on a quick action), and quantum jumper. Similar results to the scrapper fight.

Strategy 3
HAIF + Iron Pepsi. Used Tact IP with the Ionizing A-iso on his lv 1 and lv 2. Use extra turns to build radiation and then use lv 9. Use HAIF's lv 6 to recharge his stamina to keep the rampaging going.

Bruiser
Strategy 1
I did 34% on my first attempt at Bruiser Surtur with Iron Man-Mk 42 and HAIF.

Strategy 2
If you have Blaster Deadpool, you're going to have fun. His lv 9, after being properly set up, did 30k per hit. Per Hit.

Infiltrator
Strategy 1
Faced an infiltrator Surtur and managed to cut him down to 64% after first fight. Had Scrapper safeguard armor on with Close EISO equipped. Items: Psychic Amplifier, Staff of Asklepios, Bashenga's Blade, and custom S.A. Pincer. Used future foundation IW equipped with her EISO. Had AISO on her level 1 that increases damage. Used Sabretooth with his EISO equipped plus an Aggressive EISO on him. Also had AISOs equipped on his level 1& 2, the ones that gives you increase chance to crit.

Strategy 2
Use Sabretooth level 1. Follows up with another level 1. Level one again, and follows up with another level 1. (All in same round with Sabretooth) Next round with Sabretooth: Level 6, level 2, then he follows up with his level 1. IW: Alternate between her level 1 & 2. But start with her level 2 first. Managed to deal 36% damage on him before he fled......Without any damage done to my team & no debuffs on them either.

Strategy 3
Quicksilver and HAIF. Default QS works well if you use his A-ISo and the Aggressive I-sio. Pummeling him until 10x attacker and 5x quickness. Unleash a 20k lv 9 while HAIF uses lv 2 after he has prevent debuffs.

Scrapper
Strategy 1
It was a Scrapper one, and i faced him with Bruiser HIF and Iron-Man, not a big combo anymore, just lazy/brainless test to see what Surtur does. And even with that damage bonus from my Quick Actions (x5 or x7 i think) he wasn't a problem at all...

Strategy 2
I used bruiser Hybrid and Anti Venom. My agent had the bruiser safe guard suit on and used neurotrope, manvantara (causes opportunist debuffs), quantum jumper, and something else I can't remember (think it was the ironstar but the point is i didn't use it once). I got him down from 100% health to 38% before he escaped and i received just over 200,000 silver.

Strategy 3
Agent: Gen Empowered w/ Morale Boost, SoA, Staff of Ask, Coulson's Revenge and Hand of Apoc
Ares w/Defender and Guardian Gamora with Savant. Between War Never Changes and Cord attack, Gamora throws her Lv1 about once every other round. Ares Lv 6 then lv2 to keep Surtur from Healing. Surtur will clear random debuffs which will usually trigger Doom. If Surtur is under 30% Fatal Blow will trigger a 1% damage. DO NOT USE DEMISE (gamora's lv6) UNTIL THE LAST ROUND!!!! This prevents Doom from being reapplied, which is the best part of Surtur clearing and triggering it.

Tactician
Strategy 1
Agent: Gen Empowered w/ Morale Boost, SoA, Staff of Ask, Coulson's Revenge and Hand of Apoc
Hogun with Generosity and O-fighter, Fandral with Generosity and Gift of the Bard. I switch Staff for Tankard for reasons. Fandral uses Lv9 to bleed Surtur and Lv2 to depower him. Once Hogun uses his Lv2, Fandral can use Lv1 to double hit him. Hogun keeps hitting w/ lv9 as O-fighter stacks. By the end Hogun is doing 5-6% damage in one hit and I knocked of 46% in one round.

Strategy 2
I've fought him once as a tactician. Didn't have much trouble. Used Gamora (thanks, amator) and Iron Fist. Took him down about 20% and he didn't manage to do much harm in return.

Strategy 3
Agent with safeguard inf suit, fist of colossus, cosmic cardinal, asgardian tankard and markman's spotter
Fandral with his eiso and lingering
Hogun with aggresive eiso and his eiso
Took 61% of his health.

Strategy 4
1)Fandral Level 14 (Monomolecular Blades + Pulverize Aiso on L9) Street Fighting EISO + Gift of The Bard
2)Black Cat(Level 11) basic costume, with Jinx Eiso.
Agent with basic Infiltrator suit (I have no empowered armors so no eisos), Combat Accelearion Program, Possessed Pistol, Instant Support, Power Gauntlet)
Result: I was able to pullout 56% of his health on my first try, not bad for my first Tactician Group Boss ever.

Strategy 5
I used an Inf protector Agent to absorb the blows and keep countering. I also used Inf Gamora to keep applying Doom. You won't be burning if you're using HAIF, however you can get off 2 dooms if you time it right, which is more than enough to get the lockbox.

More Tips from different players. If you have better strategy, then share with us.
###
Gamora continues to be my go-to group boss killer. I've faced blaster, bruiser and scrapper Surtur now and each remove debuffs when attacked by a burning character. So he basically removes Doom from himself over and over again. Once he's under 30%, then start spamming fatal blows.

###
I'm using the same go-to team from Savage Land:
Gamora = she's made for boss whooping
Invisible Woman/Iron Fist = debuff prevention
Agent = WCD + T-glove + Kuzuri + Reboot

###
Scrapper Boss: HAIF and Nul Bruiser, inf agent. Nul is great here if below 30%
Inf Boss: HAIF and Nul scrapper. If boss is below 30% Nul will eat him alive with his lvl 1 pre counter and 2 hits being inf.
Tact/Bruiser: Gamora and Sprial
Blaster: Gamora and Steve Rogers Tac suit. Apply flanked with Steve Rogers and watch damage ensue.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: How to defeat Spec Ops 19 Group Boss Bastion

defeat Spec Ops 19 Group Boss Bastion

Special Operation 19 has come with another Group Boss Bastion.  Here is strategies how to defeat Bastion. You can share your thought with us via comment. Please share this post help your friends.

Group Boss Bastion

  1. Unexploitable
  2. Very high crit resistance
  3. Immune to psych and fear attacks
  4. Immune to ground attacks
  5. Mechanical body, so no bleed, poison, or bio attacks
  6. more likely to critically hit mutants
  7. relentless so immune to stun, exhaustion and cower
Blaster
  • attacks will significantly drain stamina

Scrapper
  • can clear debuffs each round

Prime Sentinels
  • chance to change to counter class of the attacker [this ability seems not to work against Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg, possibly because those heroes have dual classes]
  • one strategy is to disorient them and they may attack Bastion
  • prime sentinels also protect
  • Immune to ground attacks
  • relentless so immune to stun, exhaustion and cower

Silver received is the amount of damage done, reduced by some fraction

To guarantee 5% damage (and one LB), use bifurcate or trifurcate for 4% automatic damage (bifurcate is a weapon from 1.12.6, and also available by using Mr. Fantastic or Dr. Doom)

Bastion attacks are energy [all classes?] so Captain Marvel and the circlet from 2.6.1 can negate

Mutants
I haven't seen anyone compile a list of mutants in the game, but these are the heroes who have "Children of the Atom" team-up bonuses (so maybe this is the list?). Taken from the team-up bonus guide, thanks Flinx!
Children of the Atom (Bonus for bringing two mutants):
Angel / Avalanche / Beast / Bishop / Cable / Cannonball / Colossus / Cyclops / Domino / Emma Frost / Fantomex / Gambit / Havok / Iceman / Kitty Pryde / Magik / Magneto / Nightcrawler / Phoenix / Psylocke / Quicksilver / Rogue / Sabretooth / Scarlet Witch / Shatterstar / Squirrel Girl / Storm / Sunfire / Wolverine / X-23

Team-ups that worked for people (at least 20% damage):
  • General - Hogun and Fandral, use Fandral’s 2 move to depower, pair agent with tankard, and various other things. Note, Fandral's special E-Iso will not help since Bastion is immune to psychic, so use something different. This works against Tactician Bastion very well. Will also work against Blaster version. Can work against Infiltrator version, but suggest using savant’s spear or devolver to generalize Bastion.
  • Against Blaster Bastion – Captain Steve Rogers and Heroic Age Hawkeye, agent with psychic amplifier, cube, bashenga and golden weapon – strategy use depower
  • Against Blaster Bastion – Captain steve rogers and Falcon, keep him neutralized, depowered and flanked the whole time, extra turns from Falcon, agent with warbringer, neurotrope, coulsons and cube (35%)
  • Against Blaster Bastion – Captain Marvel and Fandral (20%)
  • Against Tactician Bastion - Scrapper Sif with berserk, Spiral and agent with basenga, supersonic sword and cube, strategy is to use depower and hope for as many counters as possible
  • Against Infiltrator Bastion – Steve Rogers and Magik, Agent with grim mace, psychic amplifier, marksman spotter and cube, use Magik’s stealthy abilities while steve rogers takes on sidekicks
  • Against Infiltrator Bastion – Daredevil and Iron Fist
  • Against Infiltrator Bastion – Ghost Rider and Sabretooth (27%)
  • Against Infiltrator Bastion – Ghost Rider and Famine Rogue (35%)
  • Against Scrapper Bastion – Cable and Iron Fist and agent with cube, warbringer, chitter chatter box and psychic amplifier (54%)
  • Against Bruiser Bastion – Thor as blaster
  • Against Bruiser Bastion – 90’s Cyclops and Spiral (flanked and depower) (22%)

Marvel Avengers Alliance: How To Defeat Spec Ops 15 Group Boss Arcade

In this post I will give you the different class passives of the spec ops 15 group boss Acrade. I think these will help you to defeat Acrade.

Bruiser Arcade
Bruiser Arcade main class passive is Star Power. You need to use heroes that don't use energy attacks. Actually almost every blaster uses energy attack.
I suggest not using any blaster against the bruiser Arcade, unless you have Cable and Dr Voodoo or good alternates like Blaster Cylcops, Blaster HA Hawkeye, Blaster Modern Thor.

Blaster Arcade
Hand Buzzer is the class passive of Blaster Arcade. You need to use heroes that don't use melee attacks. There are a lot of tactician that use ranged attacks. Up to you then. But don't forget to give your agent a ranged weapon too.

Tactician Arcade
The Cake Is A Lie is the class passive of Tactician Arcade. You can't heal and buff your team for 2 turns.
All you have to do is spamming Arcade with all the debuffs you can, and if you have heroes that need 4 turns of buff to unleash their power, forget about them against the Tactician Arcade. Exploit bleeding could be a good way of fighting him in this case, in my opinion.  You can use Elektra / Sabretooth / Wolverine / X-23.

Infiltrator Arcade
Class passive of Infiltrator Arcade is Game Master. You need to use heroes that don't use melee attacks again.
It's difficult cause almost every scrapper is a melee attacker. Forget about Iron Fist, Quicksilver, Sabretooth and Wolverine. You can use Deadpool (without L1) or give a try to Magik (only L2 and L6). But I think you'll have tu use another hero class against Infiltrator Arcade. Blaster may be a good one.

Scrapper Arcade
Reroll is the passive of Scrapper Arcade. Needless to say that your bruiser advantage is gone. Then you can choose your favourite hero for causing great damages, avoiding the infiltrators of course.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Spec Ops #13- How to defeat Group Boss Thanos

group boss thanos
Marvel Avengers Alliance Spec Ops 13 - GROUP BOSS THANOS
Tips, Strategies - Your Say, Your Rants.

Rule 1:

We don't recommend KILLING OFF YOUR OWN THANOS. Just weaken him 10% HP and then wait for him to kill you off will do. Also do not collect your THANOS REWARD until the last 12 hours prior to expiry. Don't worry. The moment you SPAWN THANOS. The 72 hour timer also count down at the same time.

By Agent Michael Raberts.
To maximize the amount of lockboxes you get and to help out more of your allies, i recommend that you Don't collect your Group Boss reward until the last 12 hours before the group boss returns. even after Thanos is killed by an ally, he will still be available to other allies.. he will be at minimal health, and thus will serve as a good source for lockboxes. thanos only disappears from the allies maps after you redeem the group boss reward. Also, by doing so, you also benefit yourself!! for everytime an ally does 5% or more damage to your thanos, you will be rewarded with one lockbox. thus the longer u leave thanos active, the more lockboxes you get!! so please help out each other by keeping your group boss alive as long as possible. also on another note, please select the 'select all and send' option when sending group boss requests to allies. this way, you can get much more rewards!!

Scrapper ~10% health. Thanos gets two turns per round. Thanos summons mission 1 boss, Proxima Midnight (blaster). Proxima has a defense buff that counters. I focused on Thanos until he fled and tried to debuff Proxima. She makes things difficult. Healing was important for me.

Tactician ~10% health. Thanos summons mission 2 boss, he's a scrapper and loves to make you bleed. I didn't find him all that annoying. On the second round (I think?), Thanos hit my middle hero for ~16,000 health. I counted this hero as neglible from this point forward with this class of Thanos.

Blaster ~10-15% health. Starting to get easier. I loaded up with tacticians for the extra turn.

Infiltrator  ~15-20% health. Using melee causes Titanic Intimidation. Not as horrible as I thought. I wouldn't depend on melee in this form. I loaded up on blasters.

Bruiser ~15-20% health. Thanos has another skill called Touch of Nihilism. It basically screws the next person that hits him but really? It's not that bad. It was very survivable. I loaded up on blasters again.  ~10% health. Thanos gets two turns per round. Thanos summons mission 1 boss, Proxima Midnight (blaster). Proxima has a defense buff that counters. — S.H.I.E.L.D. Intel

A Group Boss is designed to be combated by a Player and their Allies. It was introduced in Special Operations - Vision of the Future.

A Group Boss battle is similar to a Boss battle, but must be fought several times. It costs 10 Energy and 20 Unstable Isotope-8 to initiate on a Player's map, but does not require any Resources if initiated on an Ally's map.

The Team-Up! is not present in Group Boss. Supplies, Distress Calls, and Combat Store are disabled during the battle. Ending the battle will not progress the current mission and does not add to a mission score.

Guide by Contributor Jonathan Roberts

Best advice I can give anyone for fighting against Thanos as the Group Boss:

Although he's strong against most types of attacks, gun and ranged attacks are his weaknesses. Melee works well too unless he's Infiltrator class. The great thing is that even as an Infiltrator, melee type follow-ups from Scrappers and counter attacks DON'T activate is Titanic Intimidation passive (which stacks multiple times to cut stats over and over again from melee type attacks - including Stealthy ones). Also, while most of the attacks themselves may be weak against him, the damage over time effects are NOT. They do just as much damage to him as

Keep Punisher, Hawkeye and maybe Invisible Woman on hand because of their great non-energy based Ranged attacks. If you have both of HE's Heroic Age (and also his Avengers Assemble Infil one) and IW's alternates, Thanos is a LOT easier to deal with. The annoying thing is that they seem to have reduced his original 50% chance to get the "Rapid Fire" follow-up. The cool thing is that using Punisher's 1st Skill in his default Generalist mode with Hawkeye's Pinpoint Target skill basically gives you the same effects as Spec Op 12's Guided Repeater except with the added bonus of Target Focus for boosting damage from the next single target attack (30% boost, according to the M:AA wiki). If you need/want to, just reapply those 3 to him along with any debuffs you can, when he uses his Black Hole skill to do an equally damaging Scroll of Angolob effect (removing all enemy buffs and personal debuffs with a shock to both parties in the process). IW's Force Cage might be able to slow down his Black Hole healing.

Keep in mind that he'll summon a counter class lieutenant to cover his weaknesses after he takes enough damage or lasts for a number of rounds - maybe 4 or so. You can have your Agent be Generalist or the counter class of his lieutenant if you don't want to just rely on Punisher for that situation (if he's Tactician, his Lieutenant will Scrapper to counter any Infiltrators on your team, so it'll be good to have Punisher and possibly your Agent as Bruiser class for the defense AND class bonus). Generalist might be best for your Agent's class just to be on the safe side, unless you have very high stats for all your uniforms. Honestly, a high level Frank Castle can take down any and all of his followers in just a couple rounds - with help. It's pretty fun using his Tactician class Proximity Mine skill against the oh so annoying Proxima.

Another Method From Daniel Lim

DEFEATING THANOS - While It Worked before PD pulled the plug.
This method was similar to the previous Group Boss - Black Heart. Hope this helps.
1. Rescue To Tank and Magnetize
2. Use x 1 Galvanic Am
3. Agent Recharge
5. Rescue Recharge
6. Agent to use Electrostatic Am,
Arc reactor or Sudden Support, then
Power of Four and 3 x Galvanic Arm

You can give your own suggestion and strategy to defeat Thanos to help other players. Please give it to comment. Thanks.
