group boss thanos
Marvel Avengers Alliance Spec Ops 13 - GROUP BOSS THANOS
Tips, Strategies - Your Say, Your Rants.

Rule 1:

We don't recommend KILLING OFF YOUR OWN THANOS. Just weaken him 10% HP and then wait for him to kill you off will do. Also do not collect your THANOS REWARD until the last 12 hours prior to expiry. Don't worry. The moment you SPAWN THANOS. The 72 hour timer also count down at the same time.

By Agent Michael Raberts.
To maximize the amount of lockboxes you get and to help out more of your allies, i recommend that you Don't collect your Group Boss reward until the last 12 hours before the group boss returns. even after Thanos is killed by an ally, he will still be available to other allies.. he will be at minimal health, and thus will serve as a good source for lockboxes. thanos only disappears from the allies maps after you redeem the group boss reward. Also, by doing so, you also benefit yourself!! for everytime an ally does 5% or more damage to your thanos, you will be rewarded with one lockbox. thus the longer u leave thanos active, the more lockboxes you get!! so please help out each other by keeping your group boss alive as long as possible. also on another note, please select the 'select all and send' option when sending group boss requests to allies. this way, you can get much more rewards!!

Scrapper ~10% health. Thanos gets two turns per round. Thanos summons mission 1 boss, Proxima Midnight (blaster). Proxima has a defense buff that counters. I focused on Thanos until he fled and tried to debuff Proxima. She makes things difficult. Healing was important for me.

Tactician ~10% health. Thanos summons mission 2 boss, he's a scrapper and loves to make you bleed. I didn't find him all that annoying. On the second round (I think?), Thanos hit my middle hero for ~16,000 health. I counted this hero as neglible from this point forward with this class of Thanos.

Blaster ~10-15% health. Starting to get easier. I loaded up with tacticians for the extra turn.

Infiltrator  ~15-20% health. Using melee causes Titanic Intimidation. Not as horrible as I thought. I wouldn't depend on melee in this form. I loaded up on blasters.

Bruiser ~15-20% health. Thanos has another skill called Touch of Nihilism. It basically screws the next person that hits him but really? It's not that bad. It was very survivable. I loaded up on blasters again.  ~10% health. Thanos gets two turns per round. Thanos summons mission 1 boss, Proxima Midnight (blaster). Proxima has a defense buff that counters. Group boss will appear after you finish task #6.
Back in Black - 7 of 25 - The Mad Titan (REWARD: One Command Point)
✔ Complete a Battle with Thanos (Finish Cost: 10 Gold)
Fight Thanos either on your own map or on your friends' maps for free. Thanos respawns every 72 hours.

"Group Bosses are powerful enemies that cannot be defeated in one combat.
To defeat a Group Boss, enlist the help of your friends. You can also help your friends by visiting their map.

You'll earn silver for each combat, and Lockboxes when the Group Boss is defeated.

Lockboxes contain a random prize, including a chance at winning a unique playable hero!

Lockboxes can be opened in the Collections menu on the Flight Deck.
Be sure you and your friends defeat the Group Boss before its timer expires, or it will escape and return later at full health!"
— S.H.I.E.L.D. Intel

A Group Boss is designed to be combated by a Player and their Allies. It was introduced in Special Operations - Vision of the Future.

A Group Boss battle is similar to a Boss battle, but must be fought several times. It costs 10 Energy and 20 Unstable Isotope-8 to initiate on a Player's map, but does not require any Resources if initiated on an Ally's map.

The Team-Up! is not present in Group Boss. Supplies, Distress Calls, and Combat Store are disabled during the battle. Ending the battle will not progress the current mission and does not add to a mission score.

Best advice I can give anyone for fighting against Thanos as the Group Boss:

Although he's strong against most types of attacks, gun and ranged attacks are his weaknesses. Melee works well too unless he's Infiltrator class. The great thing is that even as an Infiltrator, melee type follow-ups from Scrappers and counter attacks DON'T activate is Titanic Intimidation passive (which stacks multiple times to cut stats over and over again from melee type attacks - including Stealthy ones). Also, while most of the attacks themselves may be weak against him, the damage over time effects are NOT. They do just as much damage to him as

Keep Punisher, Hawkeye and maybe Invisible Woman on hand because of their great non-energy based Ranged attacks. If you have both of HE's Heroic Age (and also his Avengers Assemble Infil one) and IW's alternates, Thanos is a LOT easier to deal with. The annoying thing is that they seem to have reduced his original 50% chance to get the "Rapid Fire" follow-up. The cool thing is that using Punisher's 1st Skill in his default Generalist mode with Hawkeye's Pinpoint Target skill basically gives you the same effects as Spec Op 12's Guided Repeater except with the added bonus of Target Focus for boosting damage from the next single target attack (30% boost, according to the M:AA wiki). If you need/want to, just reapply those 3 to him along with any debuffs you can, when he uses his Black Hole skill to do an equally damaging Scroll of Angolob effect (removing all enemy buffs and personal debuffs with a shock to both parties in the process). IW's Force Cage might be able to slow down his Black Hole healing.

Keep in mind that he'll summon a counter class lieutenant to cover his weaknesses after he takes enough damage or lasts for a number of rounds - maybe 4 or so. You can have your Agent be Generalist or the counter class of his lieutenant if you don't want to just rely on Punisher for that situation (if he's Tactician, his Lieutenant will Scrapper to counter any Infiltrators on your team, so it'll be good to have Punisher and possibly your Agent as Bruiser class for the defense AND class bonus). Generalist might be best for your Agent's class just to be on the safe side, unless you have very high stats for all your uniforms. Honestly, a high level Frank Castle can take down any and all of his followers in just a couple rounds - with help. It's pretty fun using his Tactician class Proximity Mine skill against the oh so annoying Proxima.

Another Method From Daniel Lim

DEFEATING THANOS - While It Worked before PD pulled the plug.
This method was similar to the previous Group Boss - Black Heart. Hope this helps.
1. Rescue To Tank and Magnetize
2. Use x 1 Galvanic Am
3. Agent Recharge
5. Rescue Recharge
6. Agent to use Electrostatic Am,
Arc reactor or Sudden Support, then
Power of Four and 3 x Galvanic Arm

You can give your own suggestion and strategy to defeat Thanos to help other players. Please give it to comment. Thanks.

all I'll say is, tactician Thanos is a OHKO nightmare, it's just the matter of luck if he fires his beam or not( and yes, super huge damage, I'm lv 60 and his beam's damage around 4000~6000 , I said WTF, his normal attack is alright, nothing special though) , I don't know it's a bug or the game system but only this tactician Thanos has that deadly attack

Here is my strategy:

tips:

1. First of all, remember that Corvus Glaive is easier to fight than Proxima.

2. He will summon a lieutnant only when in the screen he is not centered.

3. Fatal blows of Elektra, Thane, Satana, X-23 are guaranted hits with 3541 damage after Thanos's life is under 30%.

4. Internal bleeding is a good overtime effect, and cannot be removed.

5. If you want extra attacks you can use Omega Sentinel, Wolverine, Quicksilver, Ares, team with Avengers Assemble, Hawkeye, heroes that can apply Flanked, such as Squirrel Girl, Cyclop, Elektra, Union Jack....

6. Remeber when he is Tactician will summon Corvus Glaive, and when he is Scrapper, he will summon Proxima. I reccomend that 1 hero can be the counterclass of the summoned villain. So, when i am against tactician i can use Elektra and Agent as infiltrator and i can take Juggernaut as bruiser to kill Corvus.

7. If you want major damage you can use Juggernaut, Magneto, Hercule, Iron Man, Ghost Rider and heroes that can apply some exploit damage, extra damage, etc.

8. Remember: Mental Anguish will not damage 50% of Thanos's life.

I've had some success with coordinated attacks. Ares and Psylocke together did a pretty good amount of damage.

I've also tried Ares and Hercules. If Hercules uses "Gift of Battle" and dodges the attack that removes this, he causes massive damage, particularly to Scrapper Thanos.

September 22, 2013 at 6:04 PM

just let ur frnds to get his health 3% and then fight him
OR
when his health gets 30% use fatal blow of Elektra or other heroes

September 22, 2013 at 9:21 PM

Scrapper Thanos was punished 3 times like in hell , with my Hulk(War Bringer Uniform) kicking him 33000 and Ares 17000 damage per hit after first round .....Awwwwsomme

September 22, 2013 at 10:50 PM

Why don't you guys try Cyclops and Thor. I took Thanos down by 46 percent in one run with that team. It was a scrapper Thanos, but I also took a tactician Thanos down by 20 percent.

September 23, 2013 at 12:24 AM

I highly recommend using Satana if you have her because when he uses black hole it doesn't affect the debuffs she places on your team and you can still do a lot of damage in the round afterwards. The only downside is that her first attack does little to no damage :(

How to even get to fight Thanos when i can finish that research is says locked and i cant progress anymore :( i submitted a ticket yesterday and i still don't get response from playdom what can i do any suggestions without finishing the task with gold i mean spending gold for 8 hours research is plain stupid :(

September 23, 2013 at 1:17 AM

ares....that is it. ares and elektra..and when he is scraper just switch elektra for cyclops (flanked) and you are on. the key is damage by bleeding therefore elektra and ares are awsome against thanos (specialy with the combination of their passive abilities) cyclops compensates with extra turns for ares instead of damage bleeding of elektra (combat expertiese, flanked and ares´s war never changes)

"Don't collect your Group Boss reward until the last 12 hours before the group boss returns."

which reward does this means? is it the one where it says "redeem boss reward" with ur ally's picture on it? so as i understand dont collect these rewards at all until the last 12 hour so that thanos can still be fought by other allies resulting in me getting more "redeem boss reward". is it?

If Thanos is a Scrapper it's pretty nice to play Capt. Britain + Cyclops + Blaster Agent (White coat for Dismantling Blows) with Enchanted Crowbar. The paragon exploits of his Britannic deals amazing amounts of damage, with Cyclops he gets a flanked attack which has a additional chance to trigger his Merlin extra turn. Same with the Combat Expertise from Cyclops' Evasive Maneuvers if he gets attacked. (My CB has ~3,5k to all stats with 3x Roar of Valor, 2x enraged)

I put Agent on top using the Crowbar first for getting the debuffs for CB, Cyclops Bot using his Optic Blast and CB in the mid using his Right is Might (with Flanked he uses it doubled).

Thanos uses his dark hole to reset all buffs and debuffs in his first attack, so don't use Cyclops Maneuvers until Thanos used his dark hole.

After that just do the rotation again and you will see CB gets mostly 4 attacks in one Turn.
Britannic deals 25-35k Crits to Thanos. I was able to really kill him in my first fight. I killed him from 100% to 0%.

Captain Britain is just op. :D

i prefer cyclops with world war hulk when fighting scrapper thanos

I took out his health from 100 % to 50 percent using agent with enchanted crowbar. Captain britain and pheonix five cyclops... captain britain and cyclops both at level 12 and Brittanic (level9 move of Captain Britain) did around 30000 damage using the paragon exploiter.

September 25, 2013 at 6:15 AM

I used wwhulk and p5 cyclops(tactitian) from 100% - 0% on scrapper.. with cyclops' flank and evasive manuver on round 2.. then have hulk spam rage punch, and when you have enough hulk-up and rage.. hit thanos with the hulk smash to get him pounded + plus the bonus flank. you can end him easily

well this GB spawn metod with "send to all" works only on FB ...

I am using Black cat an wolverine (with uniforms) And it goes kinda nice usually on second round black cat strikes for 6-10% of his HP only problem is when infiltrator Thanos comes around because i am using tactician agent with Possessed pistol which helps me to do some extra damage as for his Lieutenants i kinda leave them alone and just focus on Thanos himself.

Another thing what i am not sure about is it possible for last quest where it's required to kill Dormamu (dont know his name :D ) not as epic boss but in season one missions where he comes around.

September 25, 2013 at 9:14 PM

i prefer FIRE and BLOOD ;-) so i try to use Human Torch and X-23

September 25, 2013 at 10:59 PM

I have nice one for scrapper class :
1 the agent with power MK3 and stalker
2 captain Britain
3 Phoenix five cyclops
the first round use regular weapon and don't use cyclops combat expertise in the first one
after Thanos uses the dark hole .... now use the high capacity charge and convert it surveillance now any attack he will make will be countered by all team member and the member who was hit we counter twice (one for compact expertise and surveillance)

September 26, 2013 at 7:54 AM

Level 116 generalist agent. Ares, wolverine or elektra. Easy wins every time. Bleeders ftw!

September 26, 2013 at 8:03 AM

@Kristaps Siliņš

Nope, you need to kill him in spec ops. So kill everything or skip quest for 25 gold.

September 27, 2013 at 9:38 AM

well for me i always defeat thanos using iron man and arcangel .. why ? because of fatal blow and pain .. pain gives more vulnerable to thanos so iron man can use unibeam perfectly .. unibeam has a perfect damage to any heroes right ?? my agent was a blaster so i rather use astral form and aegis defender to protect my allies from thanos attack then im going to have another turn, its the effect of aegis defender. remember dont put some buffs at the first round because thanos will use black hole at the first round , at the second round if thanos hit me ill gain extra turn then i recommend offensive accelerator to strengtened my allies and to prevent my astral form stay for another next 2 rounds so still aegis defender is active i will gain another turn if he has 2 turns i will use healing for my aliies such as curative reach and nano nurse maintenance for iron man, unibeam is more important .. and just keep using fatal blow ignore proxima and corvus just attack thanos ..

DEFEATING THANOS - While It Worked before PD pulled the plug.
--> I don't understand this as it still works you just need to change your sequence. And it works 100%
Agent + Someone that gives extra turns (Cable or Angel) + any hero (tanking is not useful since Thanos' debuffer is psychic thus can't be tanked)

Round 1
Agent use Galvanic
Cable Use Time shift or Angel use
Agent use Galvanic again
other hero recharge

Round 2:
Agent use Arc Reactor --> Po4 --> Elctrostatis Arm + 3x Galvanic Arm

This sequence works even at 100% life of Thanos.

*Remember, this does not work with the Customized Electrostatic Arm

September 28, 2013 at 4:41 PM

The strategy that worked for me is to get both omega sentinel and mockingbird
(Yes Omega's attacks are all energy based so it doesn't hurt Thanos as much but it's the buffs you're after)
My items are Power Cell MK III and Void Generator (From the previous spec ops) then Sabertooth's claws and Cruel Glaive.

My strategy revolved around the debuffs you and Omega give while abusing the deadly crit off Mocking Blow.

Turn 1: Debuff Thanos as Much as you can (Bleeding for you, Poison/Burning for Omega)
If Thanos is not on Infiltrator mode, go for Tactician Omega's first skill for the targeted debuff. Then use Mockingbird's critical intel and then 1st skill him. if you get and extra turn, congratulations, land a mocking blow on him!

He should use Black hole on his first turn (he uses black hole every 3-4 turns, didn't bother to count). Now you use the powercell/generator combo to raise your debuff-resisting shields. Have omega debuff thanos and use her scrapper 4th skill when possible. Mockingbird just need to have Thanos with 2 of the stat debuffs and she can Mocking blow him 5-10k a pop.

Just manage your heroes stamina to maximize damage (you'll be the one on point for survivability)

September 28, 2013 at 10:18 PM

I did the most damage with Ares/Wolverine and Ares/Cyclops. In both cases, all those extra turns mean a lot more damage. In both cases, they did about 65-70k total damage at level 120, except when one of them was blasted out of existence by tactics Thanos. I waited until the 2nd round to use Cyclops' 6th level ability to avoid the black hole, then all those counterattacks added up.
Agent gear: I used the Possessed Pistol on the 2nd round to drop Thanos' defense and evasion drastically, and Power of 4 on the last turn so my agent gets in 3 extra hits, and I use one equipment slot for the Warbringer Axe so I get that big offensive boost. I want a better bleed weapon, since my old Custom Monofilament Blade is several levels too low, but I have run 4-4 dozens of times and haven't gotten a new one yet.

September 28, 2013 at 10:55 PM

I just killed thanos all alone...full 100%
I used iron fist in 1st position..agent with enchanted crowbar and girl's bf, warbringer axe and sheffard's staff and CB in center...

October 2, 2013 at 7:07 AM

For tactician and blaster Thanos I use Black Panther. His Panther Stance and Panther Rage do as much as 7,700 damage per hit when Thanos has bleeding stacked 3 times, plus the follow-up Antimetal Claws do about 1,900 damage per hit. I use Wolverine too for the scrapper and infiltrator Thanos as his 2nd ability also exploits bleeds.

I keep Omega Sentinel as a regular on all Thanos fights for her "strengthened" and "focused" buffs, as well as the healing ability on bruiser mode.

October 4, 2013 at 8:54 PM

scrapper thanos i beat in the first fight easy, with p5 tactician cyclops and bruiser avenger hulk. tactician thanos has one hit ko, the only way you can prevent that is ares, his mean look reduces his attack and you survive, of course you team him with psylocke, infiltrator is hard to handle since scappers do not have strong damage range attacks, bruiser thanos again cyclops is the man, cable would be awesome also if his best move against thanos would not have that crap 75% chance to hit. the last is blaster thanos, did good damage with two tacticians, one cyclops p5 and other amaizing for me red hulk, also did well on teaming with cyclops cap america and the archer
